چکیده
Abstract:Critical discourse analysis is a recent trend in linguistics. This trend studies the social dimension and the relationship existing between society and language in the text. It is not satisfied with purely linguistic data alone, but rather goes beyond it to matters affecting the formation of the discourse, such as ideology, the context of the situation, and the context of intertextuality. In this regard, the Fairclough model, which analyzes discourse at three levels: description, interpretation, and explanation, is the most important trend. The study at hand, through the descriptive-analytical method, aims to address the 28th letter from the book Nahj al-Balagha by Sharif al-Radi in the light of Fairclough’s theory in order to arrive at the ideology, discourse, and textual meanings inherent in it. From the findings of this study, it can be noted that the vocabulary, metaphors, and linguistic expressions that the text uses, in addition to the linguistic role they play, carry ideological connotations. As it became clear through the study of ideology and power in the explanation section, the narrator seeks to reform them in society after his arch enemy has begun to spread a misleading ideology and promote it in society through rumors and lies. The other thing is that the historical context that appears in this speech, both literary and religious, is appropriate for society, and through it, the writer seeks to respond to the ideology put forward by his opponent.
